We get a few raised eyebrows when we tell people that chiropractic can help children too. It’s something most people have never considered. However, a growing percentage of the population is using chiropractic care from birth and throughout life for both health challenges and prevention.

Since the nervous system controls and coordinates everything in the body including development and healing, shouldn’t we make sure that a child’s nervous system is working properly?

The spine is the most common place in the body that can interfere with the nervous system, disrupting the amazing power that made the body. Chiropractic care is a powerful way for parents to help their child heal naturally, especially from chronic childhood illnesses.

Evidence from chiropractic offices throughout the world shows that children can benefit from this level of care, even if they already have a health challenge. Think about all of the children with ear infections, colic, asthma, acid reflux, ADHD, developmental delay, migraines, torticollis, and other problems. If their spine is putting pressure on their body’s normal functioning, the chiropractic can help them!

Chiropractic is concerned with the structural relationship between the spine, pelvis, and nervous system. During pregnancy a woman’s body undergoes dramatic changes, both structurally, chemically (hormones), and emotionally. Chiropractic can help make pregnancy more comfortable, more enjoyable, and prepare the body for an easier, safer birth.

The body experiences very rapid change during pregnancy (increased weight gain, change in posture, and hormones which relax stabilizing ligaments). The changes are vital for growth and arrival of the baby, but they can also interfere with other areas of life. Common secondary conditions from this shift include aches and pain (low back, sciatica, pubic bone, tailbone, etc.), digestive disorders (reflux, heartburn, constipation, etc.), overall wellness (fatigue, sleep, emotional swings, etc.), and even disruption of north birth (baby’s position, onset or progression of birth).

Chiropractic care is a gentle, non-invasive approach to correcting and stabilizing the spine and pelvis. Chiropractic care helps the body work better and ultimately improve quality of life and potentially birth outcomes while being completely safe throughout pregnancy.

After the baby arrives, chiropractic is used to help the body recover and adapt to the new physical and emotional challenges of motherhood. Most of our moms also get their babies checked to determine if chiropractic can help with development and challenges like breastfeeding, digestion, comfort, sleep, and immune function.

We have hundreds of patients that tell us chiropractic made their pregnancy more enjoyable and their birth shorter and easier.
